Overview

WeatherNavigator ("the App") is developed by Symbiotek Pty Ltd and is available for iOS (via the Apple App Store) and Android (via Google Play). We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your choices. It applies to both the iOS and Android versions except where a platform is stated.

Data We Collect

Location Data

The App uses your device's location to provide weather-aware navigation. Location data is used in real time to:

Show your position on the map
Calculate routes and estimated arrival times
Fetch weather conditions along your route
Deliver timely weather alerts while driving

Location data is processed locally on your device and sent to third-party weather services (see below) only as geographic coordinates to retrieve forecasts. We do not store your location history on any server.

Microphone and Speech

If you use Skye voice commands, the App accesses your microphone to process spoken input. Speech recognition may use your device platform's recognition service (Apple's on-device or server-side recognition on iOS; Google's speech recognition on Android) to convert your voice to text. Voice audio is not stored or transmitted to our servers.

Saved Routes

Routes you save (origin, destination, name) are stored locally on your device in the App's private storage. This data is not transmitted externally.

Driver Profile

The App builds a local behavioural profile (e.g. preferred alert verbosity, trip count) to personalise your experience. This profile is stored entirely on your device and is never uploaded.

Subscription Data

In-app purchases and subscriptions are managed by the platform's store: Apple's StoreKit on iOS, and Google Play Billing on Android. We do not collect or have access to your payment information. A local record of your subscription status is stored on your device.

Advertising Data (Free Tier on iOS and Android)

The Free tier on iOS and Android may display a Google AdMob banner while you are stationary and reviewing a planned route. Advertising is not displayed during active navigation. Skye Premium subscribers and active trial users do not see advertising. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share the following data with Google for advertising, analytics, service performance, and fraud-prevention purposes:

Your device's IP address, which may be used to estimate general location
App and ad interactions, such as app launches, taps, and ad views
Crash logs, diagnostic information, and performance information
Advertising data, such as advertisements that have been shown
Device or app identifiers, including a mobile advertising identifier where available and permitted by your platform settings and consent choices
Your advertising privacy and consent choices

This data is encrypted in transit. Depending on your region, consent choices, and device settings, Google may serve personalised, non-personalised, limited, or technical ads. WeatherNavigator uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage privacy choices where required. The App connects to the following services to provide weather, AI, subscription, and advertising features:

WeatherNavigator does not send your name or email address to these services. Third-party services may process the data listed above under their own privacy policies.

What We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information
We do not sell your personal information
We do not operate our own analytics or cross-app tracking service
We do not collect crash reports or telemetry on our own servers
We do not display advertising during active navigation or to Skye Premium subscribers and active trial users on either platform

Data Storage

Your saved routes, preferences, driver profile, and subscription status are stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers that store this app data. On the Free tier on iOS and Android, Google advertising services may store or access identifiers, consent choices, and other advertising data as described above.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App is a navigation tool and does not target children.

Your Choices

Location: You can revoke location access at any time (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Location Services; Android: Settings > Apps > WeatherNavigator > Permissions). The App requires location access to function.
Microphone: You can revoke microphone access (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Microphone; Android: Settings > Apps > WeatherNavigator > Permissions). Voice commands will be unavailable, but all other features will work.
Saved Routes: You can delete saved routes within the App at any time.
Advertising privacy (Free tier on iOS and Android): Where required, you can review or change your choices using Privacy & Advertising Choices in the App's Settings screen. You can also manage advertising and tracking permissions in your iOS privacy settings, or reset or delete your advertising ID through your Android privacy settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
